Description

Indulge in the comforting goodness of this Amazing Old Fashioned Rice Pudding. Creamy and rich, this classic dessert is a perfect way to end a meal or enjoy as a sweet treat anytime.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 cups whole milk (plus ½ cup reserved)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten

Additional Ingredients:

  • ⅔ cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Rice: In a medium saucepan, bring the rice and water to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes until tender.
  2. Prepare the Pudding: Stir in 2 cups of milk, sugar, and salt. Cook until thickened, about 15–20 minutes. Whisk reserved milk with beaten egg and add to rice mixture. Cook for 2 more minutes.
  3. Finish the Pudding: Remove from heat, stir in raisins, butter, and vanilla. Cool slightly and garnish with cinnamon. Serve warm or chilled.

Notes

  • For a creamier texture, use Arborio rice.
  • You can omit the raisins or substitute with dates or dried cranberries.
  • Adjust sugar to taste for desired sweetness level.
