Ingredients
Main Ingredients:
- ¾ cup uncooked white rice
- 1 ½ cups water
- 2 cups whole milk (plus ½ cup reserved)
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
Additional Ingredients:
- ⅔ cup raisins (optional)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Rice: In a medium saucepan, bring the rice and water to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15–20 minutes until tender.
- Prepare the Pudding: Stir in 2 cups of milk, sugar, and salt. Cook until thickened, about 15–20 minutes. Whisk reserved milk with beaten egg and add to rice mixture. Cook for 2 more minutes.
- Finish the Pudding: Remove from heat, stir in raisins, butter, and vanilla. Cool slightly and garnish with cinnamon. Serve warm or chilled.
Notes
- For a creamier texture, use Arborio rice.
