Description

Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Bang Bang Salmon Bites offer a perfect bite-sized seafood appetizer or snack coated in a crunchy seasoned panko crust and served with a creamy, spicy-sweet Bang Bang sauce made from mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey. Quick to prepare and cook, these salmon bites are an easy, delicious way to enjoy salmon with minimal oil using an air fryer.

Ingredients

Salmon Bites

  • 1 lb (450 g) salmon fillet, skinless, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust for spice preference)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon Bites: Pat the salmon cubes dry thoroughly with a paper towel to remove excess moisture, ensuring better adhesion of coatings.
  2. Set up a Dredging Station: Arrange three bowls for the coating process: Bowl 1 with all-purpose flour, Bowl 2 with beaten eggs, and Bowl 3 with panko breadcrumbs mixed evenly with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Coat the Salmon: Dredge each salmon cube first in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the seasoned panko breadcrumbs. Press the breadcrumbs gently onto the cubes so they stick well.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 to 5 minutes to ensure it is hot and ready for cooking.
  5. Arrange and Air Fry: Place the coated salmon bites in a single layer inside the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap for even cooking. Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray to help crisp the coating.
  6. Cook the Salmon Bites: Air fry for 7 to 10 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Cook until the bites are golden brown and crispy on the outside and cooked through inside.
  7. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey until smooth and creamy. Adjust spice level by altering the sriracha quantity if preferred.
  8. Serve: Drizzle the prepared Bang Bang sauce over the salmon bites or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce for added flavor.
  9. Optional Garnish: Garnish with chopped green onions or sesame seeds to add a touch of color and extra flavor contrast.

Notes

  • Ensure salmon is cut into uniform 1-inch cubes for even cooking.
  • Press panko breadcrumbs firmly onto salmon to prevent them from falling off during air frying.
  • Adjust sriracha amount in the sauce to suit your preferred heat level.
  • Use cooking spray sparingly to achieve crispiness without excess oil.
  • Serve immediately for best texture as the coating can soften over time.
  • Optional garnishes like green onions or sesame seeds add extra flavor and presentation appeal.
