Description
Delightfully tender and warmly spiced Air Fryer Baked Apples stuffed with a sweet and nutty filling, perfect for a healthy dessert or snack in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Apples
- 4 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala)
Filling
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 2 tablespoons raisins or dried cranberries
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar or coconut sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon melted butter or coconut oil
Optional Toppings
- Vanilla ice cream or Greek yogurt for serving
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to preheat while you prepare the apples.
- Core the Apples: Carefully core each apple, ensuring you leave the bottom intact so the filling stays inside during cooking.
- Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, combine the chopped nuts, raisins, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly blended.
- Stuff the Apples: Fill each hollowed apple with the nut and dried fruit mixture, pressing down gently to pack the filling securely inside.
- Arrange in Air Fryer Basket: Place the stuffed apples upright in the air fryer basket, making sure they do not touch to allow even air circulation and cooking.
- Air Fry the Apples: Cook the apples at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes until they are tender and the filling is bubbly and nicely caramelized on top.
- Serve: Carefully remove the apples from the air fryer and let cool slightly. Serve warm, optionally topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt for added creaminess.
Notes
- You can substitute the nuts and dried fruits according to your preference or what you have on hand.
- If you prefer a vegan version, use coconut oil and avoid dairy toppings.
- Choose firm apples to hold their shape during air frying.
- Keep an eye on the apples during cooking time as air fryer models can vary in heat intensity.
- Let the baked apples cool a bit before eating to avoid burns from hot filling.
