Description

Festive and fun 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats made with colorful sprinkles and a marshmallow base. Perfect for patriotic celebrations and easy to prepare for parties or gatherings.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles
  • Red and blue food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch pan with butter or nonstick spray and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.
  3. Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until fully melted and smooth.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. If using food coloring, divide the mixture into three parts and color two of them red and blue. Leave one part white.
  6. Mix 2 cups of Rice Krispies into each portion and stir until evenly coated.
  7. Layer the red, white, and blue mixtures in the prepared pan, pressing each layer down gently with a buttered spatula or wax paper.
  8. Sprinkle the top with red, white, and blue sprinkles and press lightly so they stick.
  9. Let cool completely at room temperature, then cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • You can use large marshmallows instead of mini; just measure 10 oz.
  • To avoid sticking, lightly grease your hands or use wax paper when pressing layers.
  • These treats can be made a day ahead and stored in an airtight container.
