Ingredients for bendakaya fry recipe

  • 15 – 20 Lady finger or bhindi or bendakaya or okra
  • 1 Medium Tomato
  • Cumin seeds, jeera, urad dal
  • 1 ½ tbsp Salt (as per your taste)
  • 3/4th spoon Chilly Powder (as per your taste)
  • 1/4th spoon Corriander seed powder
  • few curry leavies
  • Corriander leaves
  •  3tbsp Oil
  • Water as required

  1. Wash ladies finger / bhindi thoroughly.
  2. Now chop and remove the upper and lower parts of ladies finger (we won’t use them in curry, so throw them).
  3. Chop ladies finger / bhindi into 1 inch pieces.

  4. Wash the tomato and chop them into pieces.
  5. Now heat a kadai or mini cooker on stove, add oil.
  6. After oil gets heated then add cumin seeds / jeera, urad dal, and curry leaves.
  7. Fry them for few seconds.
  8. After urad dal gets cooked add tomato pieces and fry few seconds.

  9. now add salt, chilly powder, coriander seed powder.

  10. Fry them until tomato pieces are slightly smashed.
  11. Add ladies finger pieces and fry for 2 minutes.

  13. Now cover with lid and pressure cook for 3 whistles (after sabzi was still water is there then fry the curry on high flame until water was evaporated).

Note

  1. If you prepare this lady finger curry in kadai then you need more quantity of water (more than ½ glass).
  2. You have to stir the bhindi fry for every 2-3 minutes until ladies finger pieces gets cooked.
